AWOL

Struggling to remember the last time i made a blog post, blame biology and chemistry a levels!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and brought in the new year with lots of celebrations :-)

In terms of new purchases, i don't have much to share, my mum never dares buy me clothes for Christmas and i hate sale shopping!! Not sure how anyone can find it enjoyable or find anything remotely nice.

My mum, sister and i left it a good week before braving the shops and the only things left in the deserted sales were vile, but i did find some nice things which i could wear for school..

1. |Topshop, £26. I've been seeing this dress for a while and was annoyed when i tried it on to find it reach my knees and look horrible on me, however, i was relieved to find it was in the petite section too! I am the last person you'd consider 'petite', yet topshop dresses/skirts fall long on me so i'm glad its there. It only cost me £3.40 too as i had a £20 voucher and my sisters student card.

2. New Look £15. My trusty topshop black skater skirt is tiring out from the amount i wear it for school, so i thought another would be a good investment. You can't tell from the picture but its a textured skirt so thought its slightly different to my other skater skirts. It was a good length and price so bought it!

3. Primark, £2. I get extremely cold hands from walking to/from school everyday so gloves are something i have had in my school bag for years. I saw these grey mittens and thought they were quite simple and would go with any scarf i chose so put them in my basket, i don't expect to have the toastiest hands from these but for two pounds, i don't care.

4. Primark, £13. This dress is the same texture as the skirt next to it, not that you can tell from the picture. I like the deep red colour (they also had a khaki green) and thought i could really wear it with any cardigan and shoes so it's great for school.

5. H&M, £15. My trusty green zara jeans which i have had for over a year are slowly dying, so i needed a replacement. I generally prefer topshop jeans just because of the soft material and variety of sizes and colours but i loved the shade of these H&M ones, slightly blue. They are so comfy and soft and for the price i am very happy.

In a few weeks i can promise more posts, just need to get my exams out of the way first!

Mini haul

The new three storey Topshop opened on Briggate in Leeds weeks ago.. and i went for the first time on Wednesday  I dont seem to go into Leeds that often, i usually shop with my mum so we just go to Harrogate and Briggate on a Saturday is my idea of hell.

I went with my friends Lizzie and Raj (check out their blogs!!!!) to mainly have a Nandos and get some piercings, I got a hoop through my cartilage on my left ear along with my second lobe piercings on both ears, but we just had to look inside the new store.

Even though i have a job and get around 35 pounds a week- it seems to disappear on tiny things and with Christmas coming up i have presents to buy so i tried to not buy a lot.

Saying that i came out with three items, a burgundy red velvet skater skirt, a patterned snood and a nail varnish.
Thought i'd include the bag because i love the geo-style print!

This cost £18 which is a bit pricey for me but compared to the other snoods and scarves in the shop which were £25-£30 it wasn't too bad! i love the print on this and because of the mixture of colours, it really goes with everything. I can also say this is ridiculously cosy and warm..

At £6, this is my first ever Topshop nail polish, i usually go for models own or Barry M. The make-up stand at the new shop was huuuuuuuge and amazing!! Named 'Lead', i love how it has purple and green sheens in the light, i have nothing like this in my collection so i decided to buy it, steering well clear of the lilacs (my favourite nail colour).

Velvet clothing is something people either love or hate, when i saw this skirt its safe to say i LOVE it. I would never pay £28 for a skater skirt, but i really like the deep red colour and velvet texture of this so there was no doubt that i wouldn't be buying it. Its very versatile too, easily dressed up or down so i think i got my moneys worth!

Topshop Wishlist

I have a job, and work very hard for my money. My parents don't hand me money to pay for clothes and although i do earn money, i cannot afford nearly as much as what i'd like, especially from Topshop. Here are the 7 things i would buy from Topshop, if i had the money! All are things i think would be perfect for this Autumn and Winter and incorporate some of AW12's biggest trends.

 1. I love these wedges because of their 'retro' look. The black keeps it simple whilst the deep wood coloured wedge adds a warmer autumn tone, i think they're on the pricey side but so classic that you'd get a lot of wear out of them. They're the type of shoe you can pull out every september to use, as they're timeless. I've been looking at these for a while, think i need to pluck up the courage and just buy them soon!

2. At £26, this is an affordable dress, but i saw it on the website and thought i would put it in this post! Deffinately getting this next time I'm in Topshop, its so simple, perfect for school and something i can style differently time after time. They also do this in other colours (a maroon i think, but not 100%) but i have a strange obsession with grey that i wouldnt buy it in any other shade!

3. These are bang on the AW12 Baroque trend (I'm no expert so please dont quote me) and i love how the colours in the pattern are deep but bright, so differ from the colours you would wear in summer yet still add a splash of colour to an outfit. I think these are a staple piece that you could really wear with any top and tights to dress up or down. Yes, the floral tapestry pattern could be a bit 'grannyish' but i personally like it.

4. I have a real pet-hate for small bags. Tiny bags just irritate me! Much prefer a larger bag, but cannot decide if this is too big. The 'holdall' implies very large but its hard to tell from just looking online. Something i need to look at next time I'm in the store. I like the classic 'military' design of the bag and the Khaki shade of green isn't too much. Something you could get a lot of use out of.

5.Glitter and sparkles really isn't my thing. But i absolutely love the geo-style pattern of this and have been admiring velvet dresses for a while now. I also think the silver glitter goes really well with the velvet and is great for november/december when it is acceptable to wear sparkley clothing. Debating whether to get this, mainly because i would have nowhere to wear it to as it is too dressy to wear to just a party and I'm not one to buy something i might not wear. Might show this to my mum if she drags me along to some boring old peoples event..

6. I am a big admirer of chelsea boots but i refuse to buy any suede/fake leather ones. Its annoying as i cant find any between the £15 cheap looking ones and the £60 beautiful ones which are way out of my price range. However, if money was no object, i would buy these completely classic pair. No suede, no sparkles, no bright colours, just classic.

7. Topshop knitwear always impresses me, although its outrageously priced, the quality is 10x better than Primark. If i was to get a jumper/cardigan from Topshop, it would certainly be this one. The deep red/purple colour is perfect for Autumn/Winter and i love the embellishment which adds something to a plain jumper, without making it 'too jazzy' to wear casually in the daytime. However, i don't quite think its worth the £45.

My favourite models own

Models own would have to be my favourite nail varnish brand, especially when it comes to paler colours. I have a lot of Barry m but I'm very inpatient and putting on layer after layer just doesn't appeal to me, which I think you have to do more with Barry m products
.
My favourite all time models own have to be 'lilac dream' which is a pale yet bright purple shade and 'Ibiza mix', a clear nail varnish with different sized glitter of different colours.

What I would say about 'Ibiza mix' is that it's very hard not to get carried away and apply coat after coat in an effort to get each nail looking the same, but that will never happen, it's hard to get the same amount of glitter on each nail (and if you're a bit OCD like me, it's frustrating!). It is also extremely hard to take off which doesn't put me off too much as I think it's definitely worth it. This polish also looks a lot better on lighter colours underneath, like pale pinks, purples, blues and nudes.

At 5 for each nail varnish, I think models own is good value for money. They also offer two polishes and a nail art pen for £10 and boots often do 3 for 2 on beauty products.

Here's a picture of my horrendously short nails wearing lilac dream and Ibiza mix- excuse the quality, iPad cameras aren't great at focusing!

This is models own in 'lilac dream' and 'ibiza mix' £5 from most boots stores

Favourite Songs..

I listen to Radio one quite a lot- nick grimshaw in the morning, Greg james (my baby-daddy) after school and sometimes zane lowe on an evening. I don't know if anyone else does it or if its just a weird habit of mine, but if i hear a song i like, i 'like' it on youtube before i forget it! Over the past week or so i've saved up seven of my favourites and thought it could make a good blog post? Also, going to a friend's party on friday night so need to put these on my ipod before hand. Enjoy! (ps. please don't judge me on my music taste, none of these artists are my favourites, i just like the songs. don't be a music snob.)

Sixth Form clothes stress

I've just gone into year 12, meaning we can wear our own clothes as long as they are 'smart' (mainly no hoodies, leggings or trainers). For the first two weeks i was stressing so much, i was like 'i own no clothes!! i have nothing to wear!!' but recently i'm a lot less bothered, waking up at 8 and just chucking on whatever i can find (YOLO).
Most of the clothes i buy now are items i can wear for sixth form AND at weekends etc because i'm a bit poor and are things i can wear with different items i already own to avoid repeating exactly the same outfit.
I mainly wear skater skirts with a blouse/shirt and a cardigan or blazer on top along with my usual coat and either loafer style pumps or brogues.
1.Is a grey 'boyfriend' blazer from river island. i love this simply because it goes with everything and its got a nice texture to it which is almost jumper material, making it smart but casual so great for sixth form.
2.Is a plain white blouse from river island. At £20 i thought i should invest because its great for layering under jumpers and cardigans or if i'm wearing a colourful skirt and cardigan, its nice to not make it too bright.
3. and 4. are the same jumper from H and M. I didn't take these pictures, i just took them from google but they were the best for showing the colour and style. I have two of these in a bright yellow (like in the picture) and a bright green (i couldn't find it in green so used the purple to show it). they cost £7.99 which i think is so good for the quality. As its getting colder i think i will be wearing them more and more at school and they're perfect for adding colour to a dull outfit.

Sorry these pictures aren't the best but i wanted to add a new post to my existing one basically saying i've no idea what i'm doing haha. I will be thinking of ideas for posts (better than this one).

New to blogspot!

I've been reading blogs religiously for about a year (mainly llymlrs.com and fashionrocksmysocks.com as they're my favourite and I love their style) and when a few friends decided to get it I finally made an account!

I think this will be useful for me to follow all these blogs in the same place and get into some new ones. I would love to become good at posting interesting things but my life is so dull that i really have nothing. If anything it would be to do with nail art/my small but growing models own collection or things I buy after shopping trips.

Need to get thinking of new post ideas and follow some new blogs!
